Register.si is celebrating 25 years of providing a stable, safe and uninteruppted operation of the .si domain system with a public event which featured a round table discussions about the challenges of the internet in the next 25 years, a talk by the general manager of CENTR, Peter van Roste and speeches by the .si ccTLD registry, Barbara Povše and the general manager of the Academic Research Network of Slovenia, Marko Bonač.

The round table discussion featured speakers from different digital industries (Katja Ošljak Koren – Codeweek.eu, Živa Zupan – Ljubljana Digital media Laboratory (Ljudmila), Boštjan Špetič – Zemanta, Matjaž Ropret – Tehnozvezdje) and was moderated by Lenart J. Kučić.

The speakers agreed that the internet is omnipresent in our society, but that we still need to tackle challenges of internet privacy, digital divide and functional learning of technology usage. Speakers also touched upon the subject of internet censorship, internet feudalism and slow adaptation of the state’s digital strategies to the challenges of the digital world.
